Which is best option for me : MF or stocks

Hi,

I am a software professional, and my work doesn't provide me much time to study market and also a newbie to Stock market. Looking at the current scenario which is the best option for me to invest (around 50K to 1Lakh)?
a. Quality stocks like Banking, Power, IT etc
or
b. Mutual Fund

Can some one suggest me which is the best high risk-high return MF's?

Thanks in advance,
Subramanya C R
